Grungy Deacon is a space where I’ll be sharing about my jagged journey of faith in Jesus Christ and my search for absolute truth. What’s more important than trying to figure out where we’ll spend eternity? Knowing that death is inevitable, does this question matter to you? Have you fully examined the evidence of the Christian faith presented in the Bible or have you rejected the “good news” of the gospel completely because of your pain? Maybe it’s because of the actions, behavior and/or hypocritical lifestyle of other people who claim to be His followers, but don’t embody love? Love is why a perfect and Heavenly King descended to a broken and hurting world and died on a cross for my grungy and imperfect soul. My invitation to you — give God another chance and keep an open mind. I did back in 2017 and for the first time in my life, I experienced the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. This is my story, thanks for following along!

In The Beginning

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations . . . you’re reading my first blog post ever! Let me follow that up by saying how for years I’ve been reluctant to share my writing publicly for different reasons, but mainly because I feared being vulnerable and was worried about how my opinion on specific topics like faith, God and religion might be perceived by those who don’t agree. I have always considered myself an empathetic, loving and respectful person who genuinely cares about other people’s feelings and that hasn’t changed.
